Canada Federal Skilled Trades Program
The Canada Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) offers opportunities in various skilled trades classified under the Canadian National Occupational Classification (NOC) Skill Type Level B. Eligible trades include:
- Major Group 72: industrial, electrical, and construction trades
- Major Group 73: maintenance and equipment operation trades
- Major Group 82: supervisors and technical roles in natural resources, agriculture, and related production
- Major Group 92: processing, manufacturing, and utilities supervisors, and central control operators
- Minor Group 632: chefs and cooks
- Minor Group 633: butchers and bakers.
Applicants for the Canadian Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) must fulfill specific criteria:
- Secure employment offers from two Canadian employers committing to a minimum one-year term or possess a Certificate of Qualification from a provincial or territorial body. These certificates are granted based on an assessment of the applicant’s training, trade experience, and skills.
- Accumulate at least 24 months of full-time work experience or its part-time equivalent in the skilled trade within the five years preceding the application.
- Attain or surpass the required Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) levels through an approved language test assessing proficiency in English and/or French.
- Express the intent to work and reside outside Quebec.
- While educational qualifications are not mandatory, applicants aiming to earn points for education within the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) under Express Entry must provide proof of Canadian high school or post-secondary credentials, or a foreign credential accompanied by an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) report from a CIC-approved agency.
- Demonstrate the ability to meet the job requirements outlined in the respective skilled trade as per NOC specifications.
Upon meeting these prerequisites, applicants must exhibit financial capability to sustain themselves and any dependents post-arrival in Canada. Additionally, both the applicant and dependents must undergo medical examinations and obtain security clearances to proceed with the application process.
